LAKE MARTIGNANO

Lake Martignano is a secret gem that has miraculously escaped the destructive powers of development and, as a result, remains in pristine condition.

“The Pearl of the Sabatini Hills”, Lake Martignano lies on an extinct volcanic crater 207 metres above sea level and this area was very popular among the ancient Romans. Emperor Augustus built the region’s first aqueduct to supply water for the naval battle re-enactments in Trastevere, Rome.

Situated away from major roads and human settlements, and with powerboats prohibited on the lake, it is truly a miracle of ecological purity.
